Matthews Flower Farm sits on generational land first tended by my great-grandparents in 1918. For years the fields rested quietly, and later the farmhouse watched over unkempt rows and wild vines.

A Legacy That Still Blooms

Long before Matthews Flower Farm, there was Matthews Iris Garden.

My Uncle Charlie was the one who planted the first seeds of this story. With a love for flowers and a passion for sharing them with others, he turned this family farm into a place known for beautiful irises. Visitors came for the blooms, but they stayed for Charlie—the man who never met a stranger, always had a story to tell, and could turn a simple conversation into a laugh with his quick wit and clever rhymes.

Matthews Iris Garden was more than a garden. It was a gathering place, a reflection of Charlie's generosity, and a reminder that flowers have a way of bringing people together.

In 2021, we began restoring the land—clearing, planting, rebuilding, and dreaming again. It wasn't just about growing flowers. It was about bringing back your grandma's flowers—the kind that remind us of simpler times and sunlit days. It was about honoring the generations before us, including the legacy Uncle Charlie began, and creating a place our own children can carry forward with pride.

Today, Matthews Flower Farm is a place where history and new beginnings come together. The farmhouse still holds much of its original character, and the land continues to be cared for and planted with each passing season bringing new blooms and new life.

What was once known for its irises is finding a new chapter through flowers of many kinds. At its heart, this farm is about honoring the generations who came before us, appreciating the beauty of the land, and carrying a piece of its history forward.
